Biographical Information

Ann Steiner, Ph.D., M.F.T., is a licensed marriage and family psychotherapist who does individual, couples and group therapy for relationship issues and life transitions. She specializes in therapy with the medically ill and lectures both nationally and internationally.  Dr. Steiner is an Associate Clinical Professor at the University of California Medical School, San Francisco and is a fellow of the American Group Psychotherapy Society, was President of the Northern California Group Psychotherapy Society, and founding member of both the National Registry of Group Psychotherapists and the American Orthopsychiatric Association's Disability Study Group.

Dr. Steiner is a published author, popular keynote address presenter, workshop leader and member of the National Speakers Association. She is dedicated to sharing her practical tools that help people living with chronic illness and pain find ways to create (or re-create) and sustain pleasure, satisfaction, and meaning in life. Her private practice is located in Northern California, forty five minutes from San Francisco.

Currently she is writing an inspirational self-help book about coping with chronic medical illness.

Ann Steiner, Ph.D. is one of the inspirational women profiled in "Believing In Ourselves: A Celebration of Women." Her story is side by side with others who have faced struggles to become the women they are today. Dr. Steiner is a psychotherapist, writer, and disability rights advocate who was diagnosed with arthritis when she was fourteen. She is a national keynote speaker and presenter, giving talks throughout the country, presenting new ways for consumers and professionals to bring compassion and comfort to life with chronic illness.
